LAIC hires new executive director

MADISON, S.D. - The Lake Area Improvement Corporation is excited to announce the hiring of a new executive director. Rory Maynard will officially begin his duties February 1st.

Maynard and his family will be relocating to Madison from Spearfish. Maynard has created, stabilized and sold many businesses throughout the Black Hills area and North Dakota, concentrating in real estate, retail, hospitality and other areas.

"The LAIC board along with other community members interviewed several candidates and put a great deal of time and energy into the hiring process,” said LAIC President Paul Schultz. “Rory has an impressive background along with the knowledge and drive to build upon the past successes of the LAIC.”

A lifelong South Dakotan, Maynard is originally from Deadwood and graduated from Lead High School. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Black Hills State University.

"I’m excited about Rory accepting this position,” said LAIC board member DeLon Mork. “He is an accomplished businessman who has a tremendous entrepreneurial spirit. He has started and operated four successful small businesses, and understands what it takes to attract and grow small business. We are eager for Rory and his wife and two young children to move to Madison."

Maynard’s wife, Kristen, was raised in Arlington and they both look forward to re-locating to Madison.

“I’m pleased to have been chosen as the new Executive Director and am looking forward to re-locating to Madison,” said Rory Maynard. “Continuing the momentum of economic development in the Madison area is crucial and I want to do all I can to maintain that growth while taking advantage of any new opportunities to spur further growth.”

The Lake Area Improvement Corporation (LAIC) is a nonprofit economic development organization dedicated to the growth and prosperity of Madison and the communities that reside within Lake County, South Dakota.
