MADISON, SD – Construction of the highly anticipated Early Learning Center is moving forward,
marking a pivotal moment for the Madison community. As childcare remains a critical issue
across South Dakota, particularly in retaining a strong workforce, this project is poised to
address an essential need for local families and the broader community.
Set to break ground this fall, the Early Learning Center comes at a crucial time as the demand
for high-quality childcare continues to rise.
“Childcare is necessary in building a strong, vibrant community,” said LAIC Board Chair Eric
Sinclair. “This center is not just about providing early education—it’s about supporting working
families, attracting talent to Madison, and securing a stronger future for our local economy.”
The Lake Area Improvement Corporation (LAIC) is pushing to make substantial progress as
winter approaches, but additional funds are still needed to bring the project to full completion.
LAIC is calling on the Madison community, local businesses, and key stakeholders to rally
together and invest in this essential facility that will benefit generations to come.
“We are excited to move forward but the final phase of fundraising will be the key to ensuring
this much-needed facility can be fully realized,” added Sinclair.
The Early Learning Center is a collaborative effort between LAIC and EmBe, a renowned
organization committed to empowering children and families. This partnership combines LAIC’s
leadership in infrastructure development with EmBe’s expertise in early childhood programming,
creating a comprehensive, state-of-the-art facility dedicated to fostering growth and opportunity
for young children.
“We are thrilled to partner with LAIC to bring this vision to life,” said EmBe CEO Kerri Tiegen.
“Together, we’re developing a center that will not only provide a safe and nurturing environment
for children, but also contribute to Madison’s continued growth.”
The new Early Learning Center will play a vital role in addressing Madison’s childcare needs,
supporting working families, and making the city more appealing to potential residents and
businesses. In a state where access to childcare is increasingly recognized as a key factor in
workforce retention, the center represents a crucial investment in the long-term success and
sustainability of the community.
LAIC is grateful to the sponsors, donors, and investors who have already contributed to this
project and encourages continued support from all who believe in the future of Madison.
