The Madison City Commission held a short meeting Tuesday for its first meeting of the new year. Commissioners approved second reading of an ordinance for the city’s supplemental appropriations for its 2016 budget. The supplemental appropriations totaled just more than one-million dollars.

Also on Tuesday, commissioners set the city election date for April 11th. City Finance Officer Jennifer Eimers told commissioners that there are two seats up for election on the commission this year – those of commissioners Jeremiah Corbin and Kelly Johnson. Eimers said that the first date for anyone to take out a petition to run for one of the city commission seats is January 27th, with all petitions due by February 24th. City commissioners serve three-year terms. Eimers said that the Madison Central School District is interested in holding a joint election if necessary on April 11th.
