Lake County Aerial Imagery Updated

By Shirley Ebsen, Lake County Equalization Office

The aerial imagery used by Lake County and shared with the City of Madison is in the process of an update. The County has contracted Pictometry Intelligent Images to capture updated imagery for use in the county’s GIS system. This project includes a partnership with the City of Madison for both use and payment.

Pictometry is an industry leader is the resolution of imagery and the use of tools within their product that will enhance the work flow in our Office. Pictometry has developed many features used by assessors, planning and zoning, highway and utility agencies and offices.

The actual flight has been completed and is in the process of being “stitched” together to be used in the county’s GIS software.

The aerial imagery currently used by the county is a blend of imagery that the city shared the county from a 2007 flight and 2010 USDA images.

We will now see all of the changes to the county since 2007 and we will view them in higher resolution.

We should be using this technology before summer is over.
